Friendswood Independent School District

A Quaker heritage that focused on church, family and school still remains as a way of life for the community of Friendswood, and it continues to shape the character of the area. Education is a top priority and Friendswood Independent School District (FISD) is an award-winning district with quality faculty and staff and tremendous community involvement.

Leading by example, FISD continues to be recognized in the area, as well as in the state, for test scores and accountability ratings. Its Academic Decathlon Team is known nationally and has more than a decade of consecutive state championships.

FISD has been named the fifth most efficient Texas School District by the Texas Business Coalition. Friendswood High School was named 1 of 13 Top High Schools in the state, as well as 1 of 10 Top High Schools in the Houston area. The Band, Choir and Drama departments have been awarded exceptional honors annually.

FISD developed and put into place a pre-engineering program that is now part of both the high and junior high schools. Partnerships with NASA based businesses and corporate programs continue to enrich the innovative, rigorous academic programs. Athletics in FISD are strong and state competitive.

Clear Creek Independent School District

(Harris County residents)

The Clear Creek Independent School District was formed in 1948 through consolidation of the schools in League City, Seabrook, Webster and Kemah. At the time the schools were unified there were fewer than 1,000 students in four schools.

The district now serves 12 municipalities in Galveston and Harris counties. Clear Creek ISD educates more than 35,000 students and is the 27th largest of the 1,037 school districts in Texas. Clear Creek ISD has more than 4,000 employees and is one of the largest employers in the area.

The heart of any school district is its people and the Clear Creek Independent School District takes great pride in the highly qualified Board of Trustees, administration, faculty and staff, who are all dedicated to providing the best possible educational environment for all students. Parent and community interest and support strengthen the school program. Clear Creek ISD teachers are the reason for the district’s success. More than 36 percent of Clear Creek ISD teachers have at least a master’s degree in their field.

Clear Creek ISD earned the Texas Education Agency’s Recognized rating for the eighth consecutive year in 2004. This is the highest ranking earned by any district with 25,000 or more students. Clear Creek ISD has six schools that earned the state’s highest rating – Exemplary; 18 schools that earned Recognized; and no schools were rated low performing.
